Now for the Problem: System has been running with no significant hw/sw changes for quite some time. all of a sudden the moniter will go black (like power saving-an audible click and all) whenever it feels like. at the same time the HD activity light is steady on. this can occur in windows, or during boot up as early as memory count or in the raid bios search, or while setting personal settings for win 2000 pro. Sometimes I can even use the computer! If I leave it run after going black occasionally it will come back up and do a restart, not always but some times.
What I have tried: switched power supply, traded out ram-remove one then the other replacing first, pci video card in place of agp
If motherboard is toast and I must replace it I would like to keep the raid. does it matter which ide plug the drives are in to save the raid. I know this is chancy at best and only with same raid controller.
