Well they make it sound like lots of fun
Sounds like a big brother to tweakUI.

I just downloaded it, it is WAY cool!!!
Well even if you don't ever use it the 'blurb' is indeed a refreshing change from the usual boring crap !
However as always with Uncle Bill there's a flipping catch !
So errm its all very well being 'entertaining' & producing a product people finally actually wanted  ... but what about supporting it you numpties !?!Quote:
This software (Tweakomatic) is not supported under any Microsoft standard support program or service. The software is provided AS IS without warranty of any kind. Microsoft further disclaims all implied warranties including, without limitation, any implied warranties of merchantability or of fitness for a particular purpose. The entire risk arising out of the use or performance of the software and documentation remains with you. In no event shall Microsoft, its authors, or anyone else involved in the creation, production, or delivery of the software be liable for any damages whatsoever ... blah blah blah
They explained that in great detail...
the CMA clause
Yeah strangely .... I can read ! :pQuote:
In other words, no, the Tweakomatic is not fully guaranteed and supported; in fact, it isn’t even partially guaranteed and supported.
So my point would be, what's the point of producing something, documenting it, publishing it, writing 'funny' things about it, having it as your 'most popular' download, then not supporting it ...?
Oh I forgot Uncle Bill is a freaking genius & who am I (being at least 6 billion behind him !) to criticise ? ....
The 'Bill' works in mysterious ways, all hail the 'Bill', Hail the mighty 'Bill' for he who is apparently without reason is all knowing & unquestionable ... or he has a monoply position & abuses the crap out of everything, as he can do as he damn well pleases, & stuff what users actually want ! :D
It just seems remarkably 'queer' to me that M$ obviously can see a 'need', have devoted resources to it, yet don't support it ?
That was a good laugh. Thanx, I'll download the utility a little later
Been using PowerToys / TweakUI since Win95.
Right now, TweakUI, Task Switcher and Command Line From Here are my top "must have" picks.
I'll be sure to give the Tweakomatic more than a passing glance. https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2006/04/1.gif
In response to confus-ed, the reason that Tweakomatic, TweakUI, and most of the 'gee whiz' addons from MS are not supported has nothing to do with functionality (or even CMA); it is strictly a cost-containment measure that helps to control the amount of time/money that Microsoft spends on Product Support. The logic is that even a multi-billion dollar industry giant STILL has to pay salaries, maintain infrastructure, and ensure shareholder value.
As a former Technical Lead at 'The Empire', I can tell you that the average day in the life of a support engineer at MS is busy as Hell. The last thing you want to be doing is fielding calls about freebies that were downloaded off the website that are not producing the revenue to help keep you working. MS employees (mind you, now, we're talking REAL employees . . . not outsourcers, variables, temps, whathaveyou) are paid pretty darn well + the benefits package is unparalleled in ANY industry. Even 'Uncle Bill' has to adhere to budgetary constraints in today's economy . . . particularly in light of the fact that just about everyone on the planet sees easy money in suing Microsoft for whatever lame reason they think will fatten their bank accounts.
Supporting freeware is not a wise business decision, because it tends to deplete the resources that you want to provide to your paying customers.

P.S.: To all the linux shills out there who no doubt will flame me as a 'minion of evil', I should state that I have not been with Microsoft since 2001, so I am merely stating the facts as I see them . . . not spewing out company rhetoric.
