Wecome back to the office!

Well,
Today has really sucked at work. My boss is gone for a 2 week vacation, so I am it for IT here. I had a full plate of computers in as it was, since many managers send their units in for repair when they are on vacation. This is our first day back from christmas. One of the office managers comes to me at 9:00 and asked if I had the ability to lock out accounts. I do. I knew it would be bad. I just had to deactivate 2 girls since they got laid off. They just found out at 3:00 p.m. I had to try to walk around the office all day and not let them know. I just got to walk them out. Have a good new year!!! :sad: :sad: :sad: :sad: :sad:

I hate lay-offs. Why do these evil corporations continue to do this to people. :(

Yeah, well if it was someone I didn't like, I am cool with it. But otherwise, I hate it most of the time, like any normal person, with human emotions should do...

I have to say that my opinions of the 2 were different. One I was friends with, and the other was despised by all in the office. At first I was cool with locking out the one that no one liked, until she broke down crying. That made things tough. I will miss the hot one that I was friends with. :sad:

I can't stand it when they start crying! I know it sucks but it's not the end of the freakin world! There are a lot of better things to cry about IMHO.

Actually, not that its ever a good time to lose your job, with the economy starting to Pick up, hopefully they won't have to much trouble finding work... :)

Generally, it doesn't matter if I liked them or not ... it still sucks. Especially the ones where they call up and say, "Just so you know, we're letting so-and-so go [in a few days/at the end of the week] so can you watch their account real close until then?" Uhmmm ... yeah ... like I can keep them from wiping their home directory or putting bad data into the system ... :rolleyes:

Yeah, even if the employee in question royally deserves it, firing isn't much fun. Back in my days as mid-level corporate management, I canned a guy, had security escort him off the premises, and later had to deal with a lawsuit he filed. Oh, yeah, the suit was filed because he tried to re-enter the plant (just to yell at me BTW) by climbing over the razor wire on the fence and got cut up!

Also once caught an employee engaged in mis-appropriation of Federal property, and, when I fired him, he looked at me and said, " You don't have to do this! Nobody knows!" And the Air Force would never have missed that stuff. Sure.

That is exactly why I now have a little bitty business in a small town and spend all my free time in masturbation, OOPS! MEDITATION!

If you really want to enjoy it, try removing their permissions one folder at a time as the day goes on, and as a last stroke, remove them as a valid user acct. from their own mailbox. Watch the dread and fear creep in gradually.

But only if you really dislike them.

I might have to try that, but it won't work perfectly cause the coworker doesn't do the accounts, I do, and she would get all pissy for my doing something like that.

When it comes to the bitchy ones I love to lock them out then when they start calling I just tell them " OH well I will have to look into that, thanks for calling. Can you send me an e-mail on that" hey it is usually their own fault they got let go. Now that the Hot one is gone you should call her up and "see if there is anything you can do to help her through these times" you cant get fired for Banging her now, maybe divorced for it if your married.

No, unfortunately the hot one is married, and her husband is a good guy. Damn these morals! :sad:
