Windows/system/precopy

1. trying to load monitor display adapter, i get a windows message...insert windows 98 disc in cd rom. after doing this i get a windows message or listing.....C:\windows\system/precopy. how can i get around this [precopy] or delete this so that i can load the correct display adapter? without formatting the hard drive.
