Ok, any suggestions on a good data recovery program? I have someone who dumped a buncha files they weren't supposed to (business related files) into the recycle bin and emptied the bin. I've seen you guys mention stuff before but I don't remember where they are.... anything will be helpful as, of course, they're blaming me for the lost data because I didn't "protect the files" last time I saw the system....
You didn't say for what operating system but we have used getdataback both the ntfs and fat versions and it works well. The problem is though the more that computer is used the more likely those files will be overwritten...

You can download and run their software and see if the files can be recovered before having to pay for the license.

It's 98 and I told them not to touch the machine at all and to bring it back to me and I haven't touched it... hopefully it'll work... don't suppose there's a free one out there tho? :)

Thanks Noo-Noo!!! My 2 year old figured out how to format my backup data drive...lost my e-mail, jokes, web design pages, everything. I was heart broken. I downloaded this program, will give it a shot tonight. Thanks for the tip!
PC inspector saved my butt a couple of times, I once formatted my father hard drive and it was the system partition, I thought I had lost all his data
PC inspector recovered 99% of the data from his old NTFS partition, Which I had copied a ghost image of win98 over, then formatted, I was impressed and relieved :)
Of course, don't install the recovery program onto the partition you want to recover the files from!
If the files were deleted from the boot partition, set the program up on another system and transfer the hard drive that had the files deleted across into that system to recover them... ;)
Your problem may have been solved till now but my suggestion would help other visitors of the forum, who have lost their data. The best software which I know is Stellar Phoenix FAT & NTFS - data recovery software. I have used this software to recover my files and was extremly delighted by the result.
