I'm getting married in a couple of weeks and my fiance suprised me with this last nite...(6 week old Husky)..I had one that was stolen about 11 years ago and have wanted one every since.... Needless to say I'm thrilled... :D :D

She's doing real well with her housebreaking so far....she didn't sleep too well last nite, so in turn neither did I..... :sad: Looks like its time for some major wearing out tonite before bedtime!!
you going the crate route? I was never a fan and was a proponent of letting the dog sleep in the bed etc etc. however with our last dog (rotty lab mix) it's been wonderful. after getting used to it, he doesn't seem to mind sleeping in there we get a restful nights sleep and he isn't wandering around any rooms destroying things like pagers.Quote:

Yeah, shes in the crate while we are at work and during bedtime. When she gets older and if she can prove herself (as in not tear things up and not do her business in the house) then she'll most likely get free run of the place. But for now she's in the crate, she's not overly happy about it, but I haven't even had her for 2 full days yet, so I'm sure she's still adjusting. She's been through alot the last couple days....
However I am encouraged by the fact that she's already barked a couple times when needing to go out!!! :thumbs:
Our dog stays with my parents dogs in a large outdoor kennel during the day and sleeps in his crate at night. when he is home and around the house he rings a bell that's hung from the door to let us know he has to go. it was insanely easy to teach him. we just waited until he had to go and was doing his winey bit then walked over to the bell had him sit, picked up his paw and hit the bell, then took him out. after about three times he had pretty much gotten the hang of it.. . . . something you might want to try.Quote:

Got a buddy in WA who named his dogs "Babe" and "Dude".
When my wife and I got our first pup we didn't beleive in sticking our pup in a kennel while we were out at work or for the night. The thought never even came to mind, but when we got our last pup that was one of the first objects we bought for the pup. The pup didn't like it at first but after being crated up every night for over 6 months, the pup started to like it. I think the pup actually felt more secure in the kennel at night rather than being out in the dark all alone. The pup would actually go to bed on her own once we started turning out the lights at night. Now, 7 years later, every now and then we'll notice her sleeping in the kennel when we first get out of bed in the morning. The kennel works very well for housebreaking an animal and you shouldn't feel as though the animal feels as if it's being punished or confined. After some time has past the pup will actually become very familiar with the kennel and feel very safe and secure being locked up in it.Quote:
