Network / Norton anti virus

I am having problems with my LAN as of monday last. Word and Excell are taking forever to load up on all machines when connected to the LAN but when each individual machine is disconnected it runs as normal. Also when we turn Norton anti virus off word and excell open as normal when connected to the LAN. We are also running a broadband connection over the network and since monday this has gone really slow and wont even open some pages like this one for example i had to dial up using the 56k connetion to post this message. The only excerise all machines have in common is the Norton live update done last friday. Any one have any ideas. I can fix word and excell by turning off NAV but this doesn't solve the web browsing issues

The NAV is set to auto-protect on each individual system on the network and also on the server. As said previously the word and excel problem is solved by turning the NAV off and i also tried uninstalling the NAV on one of the systems but i am still having the bowsing problems so i am beginning to believe it aint the NAV at all any ideas are welcome (i treid updating the security certs)

Perhaps a virus is affecting your network performace. I recently had problems with worm W32.Netsky.P@mm
It slowed the network access and used lots of disk space. (it copies itself aprox 80 times with different names into every sub-directory).

uninstall nav as shown by symantec here then reinstall.

Often you have to reinstall office as well.

I have ran the netsky removal tool and uninstalled NAV and no joy. I am going to get on to my ervice provider and see if they can help altough the leat time i rang them they were useless altogther

How did you uninstall NAV, using the utility in the link I gave you?

Yeah i used the utility you gave me. There is two of us here trying to figure out whats wrong and we are having no joy. We have installed uninstalled NAV tried the network with a machine thats uses McAfee updated security certs the works.

Ok after all that i got it fixed i rang up the internet service provider and actually got on the phone to somene who actually knew what they were talking about it turned out to be a problem with my proxy settings for the LAN they somehow changed over the weekend and i had to fix it with the right ip address and port number
