Disable AVG Free Control Center At Startup
Dumb question: When I close down the AVG Free Control Center, I'm told I no longer have the Scheduling, Auto Update, and Resident Shield features. However, it clearly displays Resident Shield and email Protection as active; OL includes certification data, and I can scan incoming files just fine.
Is it telling me that if I disable Control Center I won't be notified of an incoming infected file until I run my daily scan?
Is it possible to prevent avgcc32.exe from running at startup, but still have FULL protection?

Disable AVG Free Control Center At Startup
Thanks, noonoo. Fantastic reply! Exactly what I needed; my question answered and some valuable "larning."
AVG worked the same whether enabled or not. I disabled it in MSConfig and it never comes on until I request it -- just like any other program. When I finish using it, it can be clicked completely off again (no Tasktray, no Task Manager). It couldn't detect an infected file inside a zip archive, but it detects the extracted file with a mouseover.
GFI got several files past the server, but AVG caught them. I use Hotmail in Outlook 2002: Could that cause problems with respect to my poor server performance?
One last thing: I no longer have Temporary Internet\ContentIE files showing up. I got an error message that said I might not have rights (I have admin) to the folder, and listed other things I can't remember. Do you know anything about that?
