my windows xp is not detecting discs and not auto running them?
Which discs, which sort of optical drive, what model number? What players do you have installed?
it is not reading nay discs like games and stuff like that
And the information about what make and model is?
So while you answer what make & model .. you might try booting from your original xp cd (set that in bios) to test whether the unit is working or not .. this is the 'simplest most reliable' test to figure out whether the unit or pc (cables &/or ide controller) is faulty rather than software based (to boot from cd it uses bios routines rather than windoze).Quote:

ughh! had something very similar happen on my work machine. the only way the drive would recognize cds was to put in the cd and reboot the machine. spent hours troubleshooting. . . .never found a viable solution. reformatted and reinstalled XP and it's been good ever since. . . .https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2005/03/1.gif
