SCSI ID problem with Agfa Duoscan HiD

Im on Windows XP. Ive installed the FotoLook 3.6 programme, that being the only driver given for this scanner.

It connects to the computer via SCSI cable.

Now, I have tried setting the SCSI ID to all numbers frmo 0 to 9 and no matter what I do, i keep getting this message:

i have no idea what any of it means! is my computer lacking something?

Welcome to windrivers yuno. Two things to check: 1) the scanner needs to be turned on when the computer boots in order for the scsi adapter to detect it. 2) check your scanner for a termination switch. If you have no other external scsi devices connected, you need to terminate the chain.

1) the scanner was turned on before the computer (althuogh it tried it with being turned off too)

2) the scanner has a termination switch, yep. And it said in the scanner manual to set it to ON,and so I did!

3) When you say other SCSI external devices, what do you mean? Does the screen count as one?

Well, you're ok on the first 2 counts. As far as the 3rd, scsi allows you to connect multiple devices to one another. If you don't have something else plugged into the scanner, then you don't have any other external devices.

Does the scanner appear in device manager? It may show up as an unknown device.

Does your scsi card appear properly in device manager (no ? or !)? What is the make and model of your scsi card?

(im sorry if im a retard, i only got this computer 2 days ago, and before that all i ever used was a mac haha)

Well there's your answer - you don't have a SCSI card (at least windows doesn't think you have one). Do you in fact have a scsi card installed or built into your motherboard? If so, post the make and model. If not, what are you attaching the scanner to?
