Infinite loop
Win XP service pack 1, clean install on 2000+ AMD box. Epox board, Radeon 9000 graphics.
The problem. Infinite loop intermittenty on starting. An ATI file named. Have visited ViaArena, followed advice from various sites, used updated drivers.
I'd appreciate comments on the infinite loop problem and remedies that have worked.
There was no loop problem on this machine when running Windows 98se.
Suspect I need infinite patience.
BIOS on Motherboard is latest on a mature product. Thanks

have you try safe mode and have you install any hardware ?
let me add this to my post
Apparently with Radeon cards, it is not always a good idea to run the latest driver. You may need to roll back to previous driver versions or even find a 3rd party driver for your card.

Tried safe mode, no new hardware as fresh install (taken cards out etc). Altered BIOS as per Viaarena and other posts found. Rolled driver back.
Thanks for posting and do appreciate it. The most irritating bit is that the fault is intermittent!

Do you have another video card to try out? that way we can rule out the video card as the problem or take card out and test it on another pc if is not the video card please take all devices out but the video card add then back one at the time well you get the idea
