Cant access to "my computer"
Hello All,
I hope someone can help me with this problem.
I also had the SPRINGFLD_ADV_DAEMON message saying the system was unable to find the entry getIUMS in the dynamic library MSDART.DLL
(Sorry for my bad translation : my first language is French)
I tried all the solutions i found on your board without any change.
I was still unable to reach the "my computer" zone. My system cant find it.
I decide to reformat and reinstall. Everything seemed ok ... till, once again, "my computer" was unavailable. I say once again cos i cant identify what program is doing that. I already reformat 3 times yesterday with no result.
Any clue about what's happening here ?
Thans for your help.
Alain
Yup - order of install issue !
So if you 'cast about a bit' (search!) in this forum, you'll find a specific thread on your "unable to find the entry getIUMS in the dynamic library MSDART.DLL" error - its a file version problem with certain installers & a number of 'get arounds' are suggested ..
So all I can suggest is that you 'vaguely' follow Noo's 'order of install' (I have my own variation which comes down to doing all driver updates & then checking at windows update, before adding anything other than firewall & AV) - BUT definately add office & its updates last (noting whether a few 'retards' will 'provoke' your issue before you do), before yet another visit to windows update - the 'explain' is that 'this' is yet another more complicated version of 'patches of patches of patches' which haunts Billy Boys products..
Can't say personally I've had this issue for a while (I fix 'pc/computer stuff' for a living) , so maybe they got the patches all sorted out a bit ?, but at home I'm happily using using xp SP2 beta & office 2003, which I know is definately 'better' having less files to update or at least only doing one lot of updating & not 796 (or whatever) times the 'normal' way does ;)
btw just which 'office' incantation (version) are we talking about ? Since there's now quite a few & I can't remember for certain which 'office' does this & just why ..
