I was wondering. If you have bought or seen a new lcd monitor how many dead pixels did it have(if any)? I am trying to get a feeling for how many on average people get. If you like you can also post the make and model.

I only have one, it's on a very old Dell, no idea on the model.
I think for it to be a warrantee issue, most manufactures require a minimum of 6 or 7, but I am just going off of speculation, as I haven't ordered enough of these things to have to follow-up on a bad one yet.
6 on my dell 8200
I'm asking cause I can buy it at Newegg or Monitoroutlet.com. There is only a 5 dollar difference. Newegg has an 8 dead pixel exchange or refund policy but monitoroutlet has a 0 dead pixel policy.
Montor outlet also has a 30 day replace or refund for any reason.
I deal with newegg all the time but monitoroutlet seems to have better policies.

Just as a side matter, all of you who have dead pixels, were these present on the panel from new or have they developed into bad pixels over time?

I think I read it over at Toms Hardware that each manufacturer will only replace an LCD if it had a minimum number of dead pixels. My Viewsonic has none and my HP dont have any either so I'm happy :D
Which makes a company like monitoroutlet.com great. They will exchange it for even one dead pixel. Regardless of manufacturer warranty. Of course once you keep it you then have to deal with that manufacturers dead pixel policy.Quote:
