Many lcd monitors now say they support higher refresh rates than the standard 60hz. Some show they also work at 75 hz. Is there any advantage on an lcd using the higher rate? Any disadvantages?

That's a good question...I just figured fast = better but I didn't take into account the technical faults of that. Hmmm...no clue otherwise! I can say I've set all LCD's to that setting and have not had any issues yet...then again I've only been seeing LCD's for at max two years. So time may tell...
The refresh rate of a monitor controls how quickly the screen is repainted, thus low refresh rate == flickering, high refresh rate == less flickering. Since the LCD display fades much more slowly than the phosphors in a CRT display, the refresh rate is probably less critical. For gamers a higher refresh rate may mean faster screen draws and perhaps a faster frame rate but I can't state for certain if that is so.Quote:

I have an Albatron 17 inch lcd. It worked great at 60hz for about 1.5 years. It started getting jittery squiggly lines. I went up to 75hz and they went away.
