still troubled....
I do have the VERY latest driver from Lucent and it is v.90 ready, I even have the additional init string in my setup for v.90 and still can't get the full connection.
On a different note, I contacted M-spring and got a Sup. on the line and told him about his tech that told me to buy a USR modem to fix my problem and he said that he would deal with that. He also somehow talked me through configuring my modem to at least get 33.6 K speeds but I am still not content this is still way to slow for me. Please help me some more if you can.

it could also be line noise in the phone lines on mindspings end of the connection
if there is a lot of line noise in the phone line going into the other end of the connection it will limit you to a slower speed connection
see if they will have someone check out the lines on thier end
