New Customer phones and asks us to reload Windows XP. So we say Yes and please bring in your computer and the disks it came with. So the customer brings in the machine and a half used spindle off blank Cd-rs becuase "I got them at the same time". What about the other disks? "Oh no I through those away, they were of no interest to me at all!".
Oh well....

I will never cease to be amazed by the actions of the users.... here's one for you, just spent 2 hours trying to figure out why an exchange server can't receive/send mail after installing a new router....
Unable to telnet to port 25 whilst on the server itself... so decided to check every single tab/button/configuration setting possible and see if it all looked 'right' Went onto the properties of the Virtual SMTP, and clicked on Advanced next to "All unassigned", the port was set to 3680.... :sad:
Changed to port 25 and lo and behold mail starting flowing. Spoke to the owner and he said, oh call this chappie, he set up the Sonicwall... Speaks to this 'technical' chap and he says oh ya, I changed it and used the Sonicwall to re-direct port 25 to 3680 to prevent relaying.....
Me: Really? How does that work then?
Chappy: Well it directs port 25 traffic to a different port to stop hackers getting in.
Me: Ok, so what happens if the hacker sends a request to port 25? Surely the request will get forwarded to port 3680, just like normal port 25 traffic...
Chappy: Err um, errr 'click' as he hangs up....

Just burn fdisk and format on the CD, then tell her you ran what was on the CD she gave you, go home and enjoy!
