Ad-Aware SE > AVG 6 > Javabyteverify
This has been reported elsewhere (and may well be covered in this forum too, but I just can't see it) but I thought it worth reviewing and seeing if anyone has found a solution -
With the upgrading of my Ad-Aware from 6 to SE, twice in the past month, while doing a full system scan, I've had a popup from AVG noting the location of 'javabyteverify' - alternately called a Trojan or a Virus by the popup and recommending an AVG scan.
After Ad-Aware is complete, I've run AVG and its been unable to find the problem - but noting the name of the infested file at the time of the popup, I was able to clean it out manually. They've resided in my folder\ Application Data\Sun\Java and are *.class files (most recently, GetAccess.class, InsecureClassLoader.class and Installer.class)
This is not an unusual circumstance by all reports and I can't help but wonder why AVG hasn't found a means of tracking it down during a regular scan. Moreover, there are reports elsewhere that these reports only started coming in after switching to the Sun Java product.
Any thought du jour on this matter? Is it finally time to think of another (gasp!) AV program, would a stand-alone trojan-killer be the next installation or does one remove Sun Java?
Thanks in advance!
