Help! My processor is running too fast, don't know why

I just installed my new AMD Athlon-XP 3000+ with 333FSB, and everything seems to be working ok, but Windows is showing my prossesor running at 2.4 Ghz, but on my other computer which has an Athlon XP 3200+ with 400 FSB it only runs at 2.19 Ghz!! So what is the deal here?

The 3000+ machine is using PC3200 RAM though, even though it should actually be paired up with PC2700, would the faster RAM be causing the cpu to run faster? Should I be worried, I have some new PC2700 coming in the mail that I will be replacing it with anyways, but I would like to know why my cpu is running at odd speeds.

Maybe it says something different. What OS you using? SP 1/2 ?

Maybe it says something more too ?!? :thumbs: , if coolmandingo can post this, it will give us multipliers & fsbs & memory speeds etc & let us see why imho ;), auto settings in bios or maybe values like 'by spd' producing under/overclocks without realising ?

Ok I ran the program on my computer, and whats really weird is that now it appears to be running properly, last night it it was running at 2.4 Ghz with a FSB at 167 Mhz and the multipliers still at 13. I havent changed anything, but now my processor is running at the speed its supposed to now, very weird. Last night it was fast, now its normal hmm.

Oh and I am using XP Pro with serive pack 1 installed.

What utility did you use previously to get the "inaccurate" results coolman?

I right clicked on My Computer and looked in the properties, and also I used the run--> dxdiag command. Also I used my motherboards hardware monitor program.
