IE page can not be displayed
I have a computer in my shop that is really giving us problems. It's a Dell desktop that originally had Win 98SE that was upgraded to Win ME that was upgraded to XP then to XP SP2. The customer is on DSL and said everything was fine with the computer until one day she had left the computer on and connected for several hours and when she returned, every page she tries to access with IE returns a page cannot be displayed. We have tried replacing the netword card first and running AdAware, Spybot S&D, and Norton AV 2005 and they all found the usual nusances, but nothing major and still Page can't be displayed. We hit the MS knowledge base and tried the reset TCP/IP fix, flush DNS, repair IE Explorer, checked permissions all with no results. Tried a third network card, tried a system restore etc....nothing. To really make things confusing, you can ping any site and they have a great return rate, so I know the network card is working. So I started watching IE when it would try and connect and in the lower left side of the browser it says opening page and after about 1 second the page cant be displayed comes up so it's acting like it wants to open the page but is timing out extremely fast. It's also acting like it can't resolve an numeric address into a DNS name. I'm very
