The one thing about living outside the general power of the western states, is that stupid laws like these dont really get enforced here, but there are always good and bad I guess.

So from the fragments I've seen, there are saying that you can't use a hardware/software means of skipping the (annoyingly frustrating) ads at the start of a DVD?
What exactly do they mean by that? Can I no longer hit fast forward or are they talking about something else? Just want to be clear as this seems too blooming stooooooopid to be real!
Imagine, u hit fast forward and 10m later sirens and they hand-cuff you and dump you in jail! This would make a great practical joke. AND scare the **** out of the person!
Actually I've seen cd's that you can't fast forward the beginnings.... either the fbi warning or the lead in adds..... it was just recently but I dont' remember what dvd it was.... you hit the button and instead of fast forwarding you just get an x up in the corner telling you that function is disabled....
And this is fast becoming my pet peeve.
My 4 y old cant get enough of disney and others on dvd.
Guess what: the first 6 to 8 minutes is ads, for all the ohers goodies you MUST have....
And you cant skip or goto the main menu (you get that stupid red x) UNTILL youve seen ALL the f*?$?ng ads.
I didnt rent or buy those for the ads, for chri$t sake, go away !
Paying for commercials now... https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2005/03/1.gif
Yeah,.. I've been hearing more and more about this topic. Maybe if we are lucky, they will start telling us which movies we can and can't watch. Or which commercials we can and can't watch.
