I want to replace the current windows/system32/svchost.exe file because it is damaged. Is there a method to restore this file? Something like system file checker in Win98? It looks like there is a backup in windows/service pack files/i386

From inside of windows, go to Start, then Run, then type (no quotes) "sfc /scannow".
That's the system file checker, it verifies all files and replaces any with errors.
I tried that but for some reason sfc won't run. I wonder if it needs the file I am trying to replace?Quote:
