"Printer connection cannot be removed..." problem solved in a very strange way
Hi All,
on a computer with a Windows 2000 (and XP) I had to remove a printer (the printer was shared via share on a nother computer). When I tried to remove the printer I got Error Stating:
Code:
Printer connection cannot be removed. Operation could not be completed.
I tried removing printer driver, removing driver from registry, restarting the spooler service, disable the share on the sharing computer, deleting the printer reference in the registry (This worked but after the computer has been restarted the printer suddenly reappeared...).
-VERY WIERD-
How I solved it?
as I come to think of it, it was very Simple - I disconnected the network cable and deleted the printer. did a restart of the computer and the bad behaving printer was gone.
Just to let you know - the error is not found anywhere on MS, I found something like it on expert exchnage but their fix was not good.
Just to let you know and have a Good Weekend,
Gabriel

it was hp laserjet 3000tn
I believe the error occured when the user was hooked up to one 3000 locally and one networked. When the driver for the local printer was upgraded the networked printer stopped acting correctly. Had to update the driver on the server and do your suggestion to fix.:thumbs2:
