Processor Power

I am buying a new computer via a well known company's web configurator and have chosen everything I need, there is just one thing I am not sure about.

The processor suggested is Intel Pentium 4 530 3GB but there is an upgrade option and I wonder if paying £85 quid more for the 3.4GB is justified? I am ordering lGB of 400MHZ DDR RAM PC 3200 and 160GB SATA HDD, 256MB Radeon graphics with XP Pro. I use my computer extensively for graphics oriented tasks such as digital photography and web design and I am a person who gets very impatient if I cannot multitask or if my apps don't open fast. Do I need the bigger processor?

it would not hurt you then to get it. photo editing/graphics can take a lot of jam, any possibility f video editing as this is where yo will see the biggest improvment.

Yes, thank you for reminding me about video editing. I have already added a firewire card to my configuration because we plan to get a camcorder so my husband can record steam railways and we can film our wonderful and funny cat. So I will be doing a lot of video work once I get going. I take it processor power will be important in video work?

Yes, CPU speed is i big priority in video edting, followed by disk access.
