First page out, yes. After that, even most of the lower end lasers smoke inkjets.
And if you don't beleive me that even a $10 000 color laser can't do nice photos ask HP for free samples and see for yourself.
I've been selling and servicing HP's for 10 years now, so I have seen plenty of samples, and it will depend on what you are printing. I still give photos to inkjets, but only on special paper, and in some of the inkjets, with a separate photo cartridge installed. Other than that, an inkjet (even business class), doesn't touch the quality of a laserjet.
And the point I got the thermal is so that I dont have to switch paper types every 2 minutes and wait 'til I have 10 labels to orint (letter sized label sheets have 10 each), not to mention that printer is about half the size of a mouse pad so there's no way I'm getting rid of it, I'm also making a program to automaitcally print my labels to with when I get an order, this would be impossible without a label dedicated printer.
Very understandable. I've serviced many thermal label printers, (mostly Zebra), and they are very fast, and offer a decent quality for the price. You could however, go laser, and add a tray for labels, and code your software to pull from that tray, but you still have the per sheet limitations on a laserjet; so I'll agree with you here, a thermal label printer is a good choice based on your needs.
Actually one printer less will make a big difference, since the thermal is so small I can't even say it uses space at all, so it's like I'm going down from 3 printers (both I'm replacing are HUGE because they are a business printer and an all in one) to 2.
The 1100 is definitely a decent sized printer, but to call the 2410 "HUGE" is just crazy - I got one sitting on my desk along with 2 monitors, 2 keyboards, 2 mice, a UPS, speakers and a network stack, and I still have plenty of room.
I finally decided to get that Officejet 9110 to replace my 2 HP inkjets, here's the advantages over the color laser all in one in similar price ranges:
-23 pages per minute VS. 4 for the laser
-4800 DPI resolution VS 600 for the laser
-12 times cheaper ink cost per page
-Automatic double sided printing (not even an option on the laser)
-A lot of paper types (glossy, labels, etc) other than plain paper can't be used on laser and will instantly break the printer
(6 times faster, 8 times the quality, and 12 times cheaper ??)
So why in the world would I want a laser? It's like asking "Do I want to pay $600 for this inkjet all in one, or $800 for this laser that offers nothing but dissadvantages other than waterproof prints, will cost me more than 10 times more to run, offer much lower print quality, be much slower, doesn't print double sided which I'm addicted to since my first HP double sided printer".
So it really makes no sense at all for me to get a laser, perhaps if my budget was over $2000 I could get something with decent print speed, but I don't want to pay that much, and it'll still end up costing me 10 times the ink/toner cost.
OK, you've made your decision, so no need to continue this thread any further. Like I've said before; if you're satisfied with inkjet quality, then that's all that matters.
