HP LJ 4 & WordPerfect 10
I have a HP LJ 4 plus printer and when i open documents in Word Perfect it give me a ASCII | symbol when I try and type a " symbol. If I switch the default printer from my HPLJ 4 plus printer to a HP LJ 4100 printer I can type the " symbol and it works fine. It only seems to be this one char giving problems.
I have tried numerous printer drivers PCL and PS for the LJ4 to try and correct this problem, but no luck.
any ideas? I suspect it is a font issue as each printer has different fonts loaded into the driver i think? please help, thanks!

Are you running WordPerfect from DOS or Windows? Which version of Windows?
You can find drivers for your LJ 4+ here:

You can find Product Specs for you LJ 4+ here:

Do you have any cartridge fonts installed? How much memory?

Try going to corel.com, support, patches and updates, corel puts out service packs for their products due to the problems WP has interfacing with other softwares. HPLJ4 is a pretty old printer (but one of the best I ever worked on) and may not support the font that you are using.
I know there a two service packs for WP12 a total of 60MB. Sothere is bound to be something there for WP10 if they still support it.
