General Rule is to keep all ram the Same.
But sometimes you can get away with it.
SIMM means Single Inline Memory Module. What you appear to be describing is 2 16Mb EDO SIMM's and 2 16Mb Fastpage SIMM's. Another factor is whether your system requires Parity (4x36) or Non-Parity (4x32) SIMM's. Many older Compaq models required Parity.Quote:

As addition,beware,what an old 486 motherboards couldn't work with EDO memory, only with FPM. Refer to manual.
