My ISP only offers the Alcatel speedtouch adsl modem, does anyone know if one of the newer zoom adsl modems would work instead?

What ISP loopy?
Just a small one called Garden Valley internet, I hope to use the same modem in the future with bigger isp's (earthlink, verizon, etc)
Unless they require some specific software to be used in conjunction with the modem, I would say that any ADSL complaint modem should do the job for you.
Tip: Get a modem/router then you do not have to have a machine on which behaves as a router to enable other machines in your house to access the internet.
Oh I was thinking about getting a Zoom ADSL modem then hooking it up via Cat5e to the metioned in another infamous thread Netgear wireless router.Quote:

then get it from a local shop that has a no quibble return policy....
