HP755cm displays "Ready for media"

Hi:

I have a problem with my HP 755CM plotter. It loads the paper but when it tries to align the cartridges or I send a printing job is when the panel displays "ready for media" or "out of media" even with the paper loaded. I changed the media sensor and the first one was installed in a second plotter and it works fine. Media sensor test was done and it pass correctly when I load and unload a piece of paper.

The first option was to change the media sensor, the second options in the service manual is to change the Main PCA Board. But it makes me laugh. The cost of a new one is almost or the total cost of the printer.Please send me any information you have that could help me to solve the problem.

Sad to say the manual is probably correct about the bad board. I don't know where you get your parts but if you google hp 755cm parts, you may find some new sources. In many cities you can hook up with printer repair specialists who have good sources for oddball stuff. Most of the big HP parts sources are "laser printers only" these days. A replacement plotter, new or refurb, might still be your best bet.

If you already have the service manual, that should have the wiring diagrams, internal cabling, etc.

Can you get a self-test to run? That should give you confidence that the unit itself is working fine.

I would doublecheck all of the internal wiring cables, connectors, reseating everything you can get your hands on. If you're convinced that the sensor is good, then the Main PCA Board is prob bad as it has all of the smarts for this unit.

It lists the Main Logic Board as being P/N C3195-69101. You should be able to do a Google Search for that P/N and find some suitable sources. One place had a refurbished board going for $875 with exchange.

I changed the board by exchange for a new one, but the problem is still present. I start to print and the printing jobs stops and the panel displays ready for media again. The main PC Board and service stations were replaced. I have a question. Has the carriage any detector of paper that could be damaged? It is the piece that I have not changed yet.

If you're convinced that the paper sensors themselves are good, I would doublecheck the path of the paper. Maybe it's getting bunched up somewhere that temporarily obstructs the sensors. Can you Form Feed several pages at a time without any problems?
