For all those of us who enjoy a good bit of M$ bashing ..
Widespread reports of instability, bugs and other glitches affecting the $400 console.
I suppose they only had it out two minutes .. but still ?

Well after selling so many 1000's, there is no doubt going to be issues :)
The bits that went into making the new Xbox 360 are quite diverse in terms of the companies involved in making them. Most of the people who I know and have 1, are trouble-free with it, for now ;)
I only know one person who has one, and it is constantly overheating.
Tell him to read this: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=27930
although it is prone to overheat..
he's actually been running it without the cover and has a pc fan blowing on it.......nice fix required for a brand new $400 toy, huh?Quote:

I still love the original XBox and plan to get a 360 but I'll wait until after Christmas thanks.
14 million recalled for potentially dangerous power cords:

The link in the article above to the MS recall site times out at present.
Edit: brain not working... sick.... this is an earlier recall for an earlier XBox.
2nd Edit: The world is awash with recall rumours. I have received two phone calls today with tales of total recalls. I can not track down any reliable source to substantiate the rumours.
Here is a strong denial of a recall:
http://www.majornelson.com/2005/11/3...d-replacements
"Recall Rumor: There is no recall. Did I mention that there is no recall? That’s all there is to say. There is NO recall. It’s a rumor..period. I have personally responded to many threads on the Xbox forums trying to stop this rumor in its tracks. If you go into a retailer and hear it…feel free to (nicely) correct them. Oh, and in case you missed it…there is no recall.
Replacements: In the cases where people have a box that is experiencing problems call 1-800-4MYXBOX. The fine folks on the phone will expedite your case as quickly as possible and get you a replacement ASAP. Currently, we’re turning around replacement/repaired units very quickly - in as few as 5-7 business days. The support reps have been trained to troubleshoot your problems over the phone. I won’t go into all the details, but when a return is necessary, we overnight a prepaid box to you, which allows you to overnight your console back to us. In most cases, we troubleshoot/repair/replace your Xbox 360 in 1-2 days, and we overnight it back. We have planned for this, and we have consoles, parts, and trained employees to handle the volume. "
My friend bought one it worked fine, until he left the disk in it and turned it off. When we tried to use it the next morning the dam thing wouldnt turn on.
That's part of the problem, people are so used to the microsoft crap not working they just live with it... if someone bought a car that would screech to a halt for no apparent reason while flying down the highway they wouldn't be in business very long...Quote:
