PC hanging at random

My PC hasn't frozen a single time since the day I have Win 2000 and then XP, I've always left it running for weeks at a time without a single problem, and all of a sudden it's hanging multiple times per day (the mouse also freezes), there's normally no reason for the creahs when I reboot, but once it mentioned an ATI program. How can I find the cause of this? I'll try to reseat all cards and wires also in case that's the problem, but the PC freezes more often when I'm away and the screen turns off (after 5 minutes), if it was a loose connection is would probably freeze when I touched something, and probably not when I'm not even here.

I have many TV programs scheduled for recording so I'd like to have this corrected ASAP to not miss any recordings.

How about posting some hardware info?

I'd be curious to see all of it, especially your power supply and RAM.

without having the foggiest of the hardware setup, i'd say its a 90% chance the psu is shot.

buy a betamax :) (or those philips 2000 or so? they were cool!!!)

PSU: Antec SmartPower 2.0, 450 watts, brand new
RAM: Kingston PC3200 2x512MB
Mobo: Asus A8V Deluxe (no nVidia chipset, so that's not the problem)
Video: ATI All In Wonder 8500 (I know it's an antique, I'll upgrade it soon)

hmm, reckon it could be an ATI problem????

try http://www.drivercleaner.net/dc.htm then open all the windows, get the voodoo dolls out etc. hope this helps narrow it down...

are you overclocking ?

K i guess someone should ask.
Do you have the latest Hyperion drivers?
Do you have the latest ati drivers?

Maybe a little peek into the event viewer might give a hint.

New parts aren't always good parts.

Take a look at your Mobo and see if there are any bulging or blown capacitors.
