Automated reply mails that get sent, now come with this wording as their title .. DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL!!! IT IS ONLY AN AUTOMATED NOTIFICATION EMAIL!
So hang on a minute... the entire point of these things is that you do reply to them !?!? Is somebody trying to make me confus-ed on purpose huh ?..:D
(btw I liked it much better when it said the thread title to which the reminder applied as the title, this just got changed ? Any chance we change it back again ? )
Got the same thing this morning and wondered what the heck is this on about now.
I added it because people are trying to reply to posts by email. That doesn't work. The only person that will see them is me. So I added that to let the membership know they must reply to the forum directly.
OK, I get the motivation, just the implementation is uhhhh off....
Please let's have the thread title back in the subject - I scan them quickly to see if there is one I need to reply to.
How about having that line as the first line of the email?
or have the reply address come up as [email protected] and drop it in a black hole?
But that won't help the folks who reply that way. They will go away thinking they've replied and they haven't.

Right now I have only a few subscribed threads... when I am on a roll I will have a 100 a day - if you make the noreply idea bounce when it hits windrivers then they will get a nice message from the "postmaster".
"Please do not reply to this email. It is an automated notification email. Replies must be made directly to the forum." You have this line as the first line - how about making it bold and somewhat larger? You cannot legislate for idiots... although we all do try to.
Edit - better idea - a nice email from the management that's on auto reply, explaining nicely that they must reply "enforum" and not through email....?
Formatting only works if they have HTML parsing email. Not everyone does. Autoreply isn't a practical solution. You would have to do a pretty nifty job of parsing the contents and testing for, well I dunno what to test for offhand, to indentify them and separate from the other emails.
I changed it to a kinder gentler message, that's the 2nd one you see there that isn't in caps.
OK, the message comes from a.n. other email addy at windrivers - so easy - change the email address it comes from to something obvious such as noreply... then anything that hits that mailbox gets autoreplied. There can't be that many people replying to these mails.
It goes to whatever email you put in the webmaster's email address, which is also where the "contact us" goes to. Here that's Rich, so if he doesn't care I'll just remove it on this forum.

This'll work. It's really Rich that gets those emails on this forum so as long as it doesn't bother him to reply to em, it's fine like it was. Besides it's just 1 forum's worth for him to receive. I get em from the other 29.

I don't care who these mails do or don't get sent to if somebody inadvertently replies to 'em ... but I do care that it just took me three times as long as usual to get through all of yesterdays replies, as none of them had a title on 'em & it made me horrendously confus-ed about just what I was answering...
This issue has been resolved. Are you still receiving them that way Ed?
