part1.2

I sometimes see this attachment (Part1.2) on original mail from outside my vpn and from replies to emails I have sent others.

It appears to be associated with asking for a receipt of delivered mail. I've never tried to open it, I just delete the messages. Virus scanners say it is safe. Any ideas what the attachment is and what in the world file type .2 is?

you did the right thing..you should never open files your not really sure. :)
have you tried asking the person who email you?
