Possible SATA Mirror Issue

Over the weekend I noticed during bootup when the SATA controller messages came on screen that some sort of error had occured and that the mirror needed to be updated on my RAID 1 (2 WD drives, 80Gb, both from the same production run on an A7N8X Deluxe onboard SIL 3112) and that it was proceeding with said update. I'm paraphrasing, but you get the idea.

This morning I rebooted and the same message was still happening.

Now, besides doing a backup, what would you recommend I do / check?

The latest WD utilities are not reporting any drive errors.

What could be causing this situation and how can I prevent it from occuring again?

I think to get any further you'll need to be more specific about the 'some sort of error' is there any more detail you can part with ? also do you have the Java RAID GUI installed for Windows, it can be helpful in identifying any minor problems.

I think the most probable thing is that you Raid container "went off synchronization". The most easy step you can do - is Image the Drive content to an External Storage, Delete the Raid container and recreate it. Than restore Imgae do the newely created Raid container.

Run a chkdsk /f on the drive. Then check for defragmentation. After running those two, my same problem stopped...

The only onformation I have is that he mirror is broken and/or that sync is scheduled to re-occur again.

I'll try to find a utility that can feed me better data about that. ;)

I ran the disk maker's tools on the drives and found no errors, but I'll run some 3rd party tools to make sure.
