boot hang
Well this machine as listed below started having noticable restart problems about two weeks ago. I get booted all the way almost. Right where the mouse pointer becomes visisble. Mine never does.. I sit there at a dark screen, the monitor light is green, but no picture. Is this a power problem? Maybe my power supply doesn't have enough oomph to get it to boot anymor. This machine was always left on, so didn't become a problem until I couldn't reboot. For a while going into safe mode fixed the problem on reboot from safe mode. It's very frustrating to wait and hope for a mouse pointer.
My thought is to get a new Ps from newegg and try that. However, I'm not sure that that stands a chance of success. What do people think. I will not be back home till tonight. I'll get on wife's machine and view posts then.
Thanks in advance. :)

Enter the RAID config utility during POST and see if there are any conflicts to resolve, if there is none boot to console and run checkdisk on all drives.

 Well as usu I didn't install the restore console on this computer. Is there an other way of running ck disk? I'm all backed up and I can try to reinstal XP MCE It won't install to a bad array right? :)

:) Well it doesn't seem to be hardware, butuo I stored my b/u's on a pata maxtor 200gb drive. I thought that when I reinstalled windows on the raid array I could access the pata for b/u files. Unfortunatly, my drive is no longer seen in windows. Partionmagic sees it, but want to format it, etc.
What has happened here? Did I pick up a virus? I hate to loose my b/u.

 Wel;l I think I have this figured out, but I'd appreciate comments.
I had installed norton's goback on my originall install. Of course, it didn't work when I needed it.
With my new installation not seeing the backup HDD indicates to me that goback did something to it's MBR. I probably will not be able to read the thing unless I put goback on this install. Unfortunately I put recoveryconsole on this install and goback will not install because it sees my system as a dual boot one now.
Is this right? any comments. I have lots of music on the HDD. Lucky for me some is backed up on mp3 cd's.
I disconnected the b/u HDD from the system currently. If the above is right can I expect a reinstall ,with putting goback on this time ,will allow me access to the b/u?

Just so people know. I got my b/u back. I had to unistall goback on a fresh install to do it. Never will I use goback and norton is on a ? list now! :guns:
