Access Point Question
I am trying to add a solitary 3com access point to a wired network(Netware 6) in a classroom for a PC Tablet. I powered up the access point in the classroom, connecting it to an established active port in one wall. The access point's LED's read positive 802.11b/g connection. I installed the 3com software in my Toshiba Portege laptop, but cannot locate the access point. I have tried other wireless enabled laptops, but cannot locate the access point. I have access points on 3 portable wireless carts, and have used them in this classrrom using the same wall port with much success, but I am baffled by this situation. Any ideas?! Many thanks!

Is it a "managed" access point? In other words, is there an option where you can set its name, passwords for access, etc., and are these options accessed through a web browser? What is the specific kind of accesss point you are using?
Need more info. =)

I realize this won't be much help but I have had a lot of my life made hell by 3com access points. stay away from them if you can. Went through 23 firmware revisions, when I left the place it still did not work :0

What kind of 3com Access Point is it? I have known some that come pre set with security enabled. You may have to hard wire your laptop to the network and log in to the access point set up screen to configure the router for access.
