Need Help on VGA(Monitor ) problem.

Hi !

I was using a pentium III compaq deskpro since August 2005 '
which had a sony 17" monitor.when i started using the PC, the
monitor gave electric shock any time anyone touches the screen.
After 2005 xmas, i didn't use this pc anymore 'cos i was using different
ones, so it was adamant till march -april 2006 when i tried to use
it , but i detected that the monitor was dead and even the power
was not coming on when switched.
Later i changed the monitor with an hewlet parkard 15" one .When i
switched on the pc it takes about 10 mins before displaying on the screen.
Later on nothing was displaying but the monitor power was always on and blinking and that is how it behaves even now. I thought the ATI Technology VGA card it was using was faulty so
i removed it and tested it with another pc which is a pII with also an ATI VGA Card.When i put the VGA CARD from the pIII on the pII pc it worked well, but when i put the pII VGACard on the pIII it didn't work at all ; from this i noticed that the VGA card has no problem.

But as at now i don't know what the actual problem is apart from thinking of a faulty MOBO; i'm also suspecting the cmos battery but not very sure .
Please i will very much appreciate if anyone out there can help,

You haven't accidentally changed the voltage selector on your power supply
while moving the computer and setting it up ,have you?

ie...110/220 volt selector switch on power supply..

Hi Street1,
I'm now busy in the office ,but the said PC is in the
house ,so i'll check when i get home and give you the

Hi Street1,
In fact , i hv done all that but to no avail.
Mine is 115/230vvolts and it was tightly on
the 230volts.
I also tried to change the hard disks on the PCs
thinking that may be the driver of the ATI card
has corrupted on the hard disk, but still nothing show up.

So , i'll still be happy if there is something more to help me

It is likely that the electrical current from the bad monitor damaged the AGP slot. It may be the whole motherboard is dead. The last resort is to try a pci video card. They can be found at new egg.
