If its a USB mouse I personally hate them espec for gaming. They can cause irq conflicts and do freeze up and crash. and sometimes if the sound and vid are in conflict with other devices or too much hanging off the same irq then the mouse is where it displays the problem.
If you have an onboard sound disabled, possible disabled vid and a usb mouse, add in sound and vid then thats when the problems start
check IRQ resources and try swapping.. and I'd use wireless or ps/2 mouse.
thats just me though, many use usb mice without issues.
