I need recommendations for kid safe browsers.

Hi everyone, Happy Holidays.

I need some suggestions for kid safe web browsers(as I've been asked by a collegue if I could recommend one, which I couldn't right of the bat )
I decided to post this because I need opinions from more of a "techie" viewpoint. (edit: preferably free :) )
I.e I need a browser for children that will run flash and Sun java, and preferably a browser that's based on the engine behind Mozilla's Seamonkey or Firefox(I do understand that I might not be able to get the latter, I've searched a bit and could only find kids browsers based on Internet Explorer 5(too old) or 6.

I am NOT a tech but my opinion is, there isn't a 'safe' browser UNLESS it is browsing accompanied by a responsible person.

Hahaha, by all means I do understand that, but I'm not about to tell that to who asked me (what would happen to me>) :flame: oh no! lol. What I mean as "safe" I guess would be somewhat safe, filtering, restricted acess etc.

IE has restrictions you can set.
That being said, it's probably the most hacked browser on the market....

I'd go with Firefox http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ and lock it down through the preferences.

To me thats a very difficult request,
I would choose the other route like using netnanny

And no its not free but I do believe its quite effective

I've used CyberPatrol for a couple of years now, and it is very effective. You can set the restrictions based on age or your preferences, and individually whitelist/blacklist. It will also keep a log of every page visited so you can backtrack what your children are doing if you have to turn your back. It is not free either, but is a good value for the peace of mind you receive.
