We got our son a Mac for Xmas. Now, is the joy of trying to have it in perfect harmony with our network. I was able to connect our network printer to the mac, now I am trying to connect the mac to my machine so it can print to my color printer (which isn't network server like the HP is). this printer is shared via USB. Can this be done? :rolleyes:
To keep your post a float I am not sure, I will keep searching for answer.
Ok, I am making progress. I am now able to see my color printer and able to add printer. The bad part is I am unable to print. That's what I am troubleshooting now. Thank you for that link Ferrit. :)

The little experience I have had with macs is they just work... plug em into the network and it works... if the shares are there it can use it. You might investigate the sharing and permissions for the printer and add the mac user specifically.

Yes, I did check. This printer is connected to my pc via usb not an ip address(like our HP).
Check the printers shared name and make sure it is under 13 characters. If not rename the share to less characters then try it.
Yes, the shared name is less than 13 characters. I can connect to the printer, I just can't print anything (the jobs are there).Quote:
