[RESOLVED] Dell 1505 TSSTCorp TS-L632D stopped working

I was cleaning my installed programs on Dell Inspiron 1505 and my DVD drive stopped working after uninstallation of some program (can't recall which).

My TSSTCorp TS-L632D drive is missing the driver now and is not a drive on My Computer options. I tried manual choosing the driver option and tried to install it as regular cdrom but got error 39. I tried using Dell Recovery disk but couldn't find any option to get that dvd drive recognized by the customer. I did some system checks using dell recovery cd and the drive is functioning fine.

Where would find software/driver to fix this problem. Thanks

I download that file ... Running the exe gave the error 'Drive not found'. I tried to manually update the driver pointing to the directory having the files unzipped from this and the update driver couldn't find any driver for the dvd drive.

So the problem still exists.

Is the drive listed in device manager?
What windows?

Yes the device is listed in Device Manager but with a sign indicating that it has driver issues.

The OS is Windows XP home edition with Media Center.

So if you put a bootable disc in the drive the computer will read it and boot, but it will not work in Windows, Correct?

Is the drive physically removable from the system? becuase you can try removing the device from device manager, shut the computer down, remove and reinsert the drive and then boot windows again and see if Windows Picks it up again. Also check to see if you have the latest firmware for the Drive and chipset drivers for the notebook.

Yes, the comp is booting well from the cd but the windows xp will not read the cd.

The drive is internal to the computer. I can try to remove it but would prefer if there is a software solution to the problem.

Thank you 1000 times over, you are a genius, gentleman and a scholar. My problem was the same but using a HP computer, Vista Ultimate. There was no Upper, just lower in my registry but after 8 hours or struggle and trying to find a solution you did it for me. If you ever come to Thailand I will buy you a beer and even a ST if you are so inclined.

Hello IT gods, i am mere mortal with a corrupt driver for my TssTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L6320 ata device. i use a Dell XPS m1210 on the Windows Vista Home Premium. I need to find the drivers to device or may be not...But Pls help as i cant even play any DVDs

Playing dvd's requires dvd software such as powerdvd or windvd
Do yo have this software installed?
Have you tried the above fixes?

You are tha MAN...Thank you very much. I have the same problem with Vista Premium and after cleaning the lower filters everything worked fine (there were no upper filters in my reg. configuration)...But yes you are genius man...Thank you...
