How do I rip MP3 friles?
I want to make an MP3 disc but am not sure how I go about ripping the files to MP3 format and then burning the disc.
I have Windows XP with Media Player 9 and I have Roxio Creator Classic which does have a burn MP3 function but I cannot figure it out. Do I rip the MP3 files from my audio discs or from WMA files and with what?
I do not have a problem burning ordinary CD or DVD discs.

I am not sure what you are asking? With roxio you can burn to mp3 disk but then you will need a mp3 player. your regular cd player will not play mp3 disk.
On roxio you can search when it asks for files to your mp3 folder or wm folder.
If my memory stays with me roxio will convert wm to mp3 for a mp3 disk. to get music to computer I use windows explorer and send to designated folder
from CD rom. sometimes when I do that it will send 11kb for short cut. which does not work to burn from folder. I hope I helped a little:wave:

I have a CD player that plays MP3 and all I really need to know is how to convert the music on my audio CDs or from my WMA files to MP3 so I can burn them to disc.

Go to your roxio and set it up to burn mp3`s. It will then prompt you to give it the lead to where your music files are. If you have a burner and a rom you can put wma in rom and direct it to your rom I believe. try that.

Angie,
Download "AudioGrabber" It's free. You will also need to download Lame
Install audiograbber. Find the install directory for audiograbber and unzip the lame dll into it. Start audiograbber. Click Settings, and browse to a directory for Audiograbber to use (otherwise it sticks the mp3s in amongst it's own stuff). Then from the codec dropdown box which currently probably says "Frauenhoffer" choose LAME. Click OK.
Put a cd to be ripped into your player. Click the cd symbol (refresh) and wait for the cd to spin up and be displayed. Now untick any tracks you don't want and click on MP3 at the top. Job done when it returns to the list of tracks.
You can also have audiograbber look up on the internet the name of the CD and put all the track detail in for you... see the link below.
more on how to use it here but I think some of the screens are older so some items have moved.
Now all you need to do is burn the mp3s to a cd or a dvd with roxio. You DON'T want to select AUDIO cd - that will convert the mp3s back to cda format. You just burn a data disk (unless your Roxio has a specific wizard for MP3s).
