If sony is not helping you likely are not going ot get support for the camera.
Its up to the manufacturers to write drivers/software for compatibility with Vista.

How are you connecting your sony handicam to the pc, i-link (firewire) or usb?
The handicam will show up in device manager as an imaging device if connected via firewire and the camera on and is set to playback.
If you connected via usb, most sonys only show up as a usb drive in "computer".
What is the model of your handicam?
Which version Vista do you have?
Thanks for the replys. My problem is that I am running VISTSA and my sony USB driver has not got VISTA as my camera is several years old.Model #DCR-TRV240 NTSC. Is there a driver that I can down load for my camera so I can use it with the VISTA operating system. Thanks
Sorry NooNoo. I have Viata Home Premium
hamstring, you need to use i-link with Vista. USB streaming is not supported and won't be i-link is.
more info including how to use i-link
Do you have a firewire card (ieee1394) card on your computer?
Thanks NooNoo.I will give your instructions a try.
