Speaking of bookmarks/favorites, a little hijacking here, anyone know where firefox hides its favorites?

Soitanly, Kodiak! If you haven't tried Mozbackup, you should take a look at it. I think it's really the easiest way to transfer, backup, and restore Firefox and Thunderbird profiles. The only caveat is, that like many backup utilities, it can have problems with backing up mail folders that have long pathnames, lots of subfolders, and/or huge numbers of messsages. In this case, I use the MboxImport plug-in for Thunderbird.
