What about Microsoft Silverlight?

Every time I go to the MS site to pull up info, download something from MSDN, I get bombarded with prompts to install Silverlight...worst of all, it's a beta!

Is it just me?

Good point, but I think you need to distinguish between Microsoft's desire to have you download Silverlight, and it's subsequent performance. So far, Silverlight hasn't nagged me to register, download updates, additional MS software, or crashed my computer. It could be a lot worse.
