Boot.ini is missing in start up
I have a emachines box in and I notice when I booted it up it says: Invalid Boot.ini Booting from C:\Windows and it boots into windows. I thought I would take a look at the boot.ini in system properties/advanced/startup and recovery and when I click on startup and recovery it says: c:\boot.ini file cannot be opened. Operating system yada yada cannot be changed, something like that. If you click OK it says there is no boot.ini and gives you the option to create one. Everything starts and runs fine, question is can a person take and copy a boot.ini from another machine and create it? Drive letter is correct and there are no other partitions just C:\.
