Spam Volumes Drop by Two-Thirds After Firm Goes Offline
Another Northern California ISP that hosted sites selling fake drugs, phony designer goods, and child pornography has been taken off line. The short version of the story, is here but it includes a link to a more detailed story about the investigations that led to the company's Internet access being cut off. It has interesting details about the research and why U.S. law enforcement had been ineffective against McColo Corp.
Of course, we all know this is just a speedbump for spammers, but I find it encouraging that the industry is starting to police itself. Even ICANN is starting to act against spammers and fraudulent sites.
