E8400 bios temp vs. everest

Hello :O)

A client complained about noises from his new computer. Opened his case to find the first time in my life, An intel fan gone bad.
The original fan was intel's foxconn manufactured copper based fan, And i've
replaced it with with a non copper based intel fan, But with larger wings.
The board is Asus intel g31 based chipset (I think p5kpl-cm), And the cpu is E8400. The temp in the bios is around 54C celsius, But in everest is around 30C when windows is booted. I've enabled Q-fan feature in silent mode, Which lets the fan spin at around 1050rpm. Is this temp is normal for this kind of cpu ?
I didn't put more paste on the cpu or heatsink, Since they seemed to have enough paste on them.

You should have cleaned the paste off the cpu and reapplied. The paste is supposed to fill in micro scratches and dents in the heatsink - if you have replaced the heatsink, the scratches are all going to be different... so first thing to do is clean up the heatsink and the processor and reapply either a new pad or the recommended thermal paste.

NEVER re-use old paste... ever!

Noo, do you ever use the thermal pads that come pre-applied on some HSF's? I usually scrape these off as they are almost always too thickly applied, IMHO.

Well...I didn't brought my thermal paste injectors with me and there was a thin layer of paste on both CPU and HS. I got the "Never re-use" part, But i did my best

If it's the stock fan I leave it to save warranty issues, otherwise, yup, it's gone.
