Issues with running a lot of older games.
Until now I thought it was just a compatibility issue since a lot of the games are DOS based but I just tried to install IceWind Dale onto my computer and the autorun would kick on, I'd click install, the hourglass would appear for about 30 seconds then disappear - as if I did nothing.
I reinstalled Windows XP on this machine (using the restore from Dell w/ XP Home since I didn't want to reset the BIOS to put XP Pro on it). What is getting me is that I am 99% sure I had this game on the PC before (same XP Home OS).
As far as I know I have al the correct drivers (no ! or ? in the device manager) including the upgraded video card I opted for (Del can't track my order so I can't find exactly which one I got but the DM says "Vision Tek Radeon X1300 Series" (plus a secondary - driver date 10/28/2008 version 8.552.0.0 - is there a way to verify that this is the video card I actually have w/o opening up the case?).
Edit: According to tell it shipped with a "Module, Card, Graphic, MRMGA10, Capacitor" - I'm going to assume that is different than what the DM says... Too bad I can't track down that invoice on Dell's site?
If there is an issue - I'm thinking it's the video card since that is the only factor that has changed form the initial configuration (and different from the restore system).
