How to permanently install a modem (Win XP)....
Hey all,
I use US Robotics external modems to dial from one site to another to gather data and store it at a central site. I can set this up and all works ok until there is a power failure, a hardware hic-up or another random issue that causes windows XP to decide the modem is disconnected or "not present".
This then kills my dialing software until I sit down at the computer and reinstall the modem. Then all works well for awhile until the above cycle repeats itself again.
Is there any way to tell Windows XP that I want a particular modem assigned to a specific comm port (serial port) and force it to keep this driver active REGARDLESS of what Pnp or anything else within XP is telling it?
Thanks for any and all input.
