https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2000/04/1.gif Ok, I'm wanting to copy a couple of tapes to cd. My cd burner is an internal cd rewriteable on a windows NT pc. My thought is to connect the headphones jack on the tape player to the mic. jack on the sound card. I've done this but now can't find a way to record the sound. Any ideas? Thanks.

Well, it would be better if you put it into a 'Line-In' jack, but some sound cards don't have that. On my SB Live! Value OEM, here's what I do...
1. Plug Walkman into 'Line-In' port on card
2. Fire up your personal favorite .wav editor (Mine being Sound Forge), and make sure all the settings are cool.
3. Press play on the walkman, and record on your program.
4. You can do one of two things now:
A. You can do just one song at a time, editing the begining and end, then save that wave file and move to the next.
B. You can record one whole side, edit the songs, and then save one at a time. NOTE: This takes a bunch of RAM!
5. After you got all the songs for your tape all organized, apply any filters or effects you want, gather them in a temp directory, and burn em!
